The Story Behind
the Studio

A FAMILY LEGACY

Three generations of
optical craft

James's connection to optics runs deeper than a career — it's a family legacy.

His grandfather owned an optical laboratory in Montreal in the 1970s and was among the early pioneers in Canada working with plastic lenses at a time when most eyewear was still made from glass. The business was a true family operation, with multiple members of the family involved in hands-on lab work — from lens production to tinting.

That heritage instilled a lasting respect for precision, craftsmanship, and doing things properly.

With over 24 years in the optical industry, James built his career at the highest levels of retail optics, including leading a top-performing location in his market. Through that experience, he recognized something was missing — a more personal, more considered approach to eyewear. One that treats every client as an individual, not a transaction.

THE PHILOSOPHY

Focus Vision Studio
was created with intention

Every frame is selected with purpose. Every lens is chosen for performance and quality. Clients have the option of a dedicated, appointment-based experience — allowing for the kind of time and attention that great eyewear deserves.

James believes eyewear should not only improve how you see, but elevate how you present yourself.

A more considered approach to optics — built on experience,
guided by craftsmanship, and focused on quality in every detail.
